- Tips for getting your insurance to pay your claim:
- Do not use nicknames
when you register at your doctor's office (because the claim may then
be entered incorrectly into our computer system)
- Call the doctor's
office as soon as you have a name change so they can change their files.
- Make sure you
use the most recent insurance card. Throw away those old cards!
- Most importantly,
FIND OUT WHAT YOUR POLICY COVERS. Does it cover annual visits? Does
it only cover problem visits?
- Disputing a bill from an outside lab:
Many lab tests such
as PAP smears are sent to outside labs (Quest Diagnostics/PhyTest/LabCorp).
The lab will then bill the patient, doctor, or insurance. With
so many choices between who to bill and who insurance reimburses (or
doesn't), errors may occur. The manager of your doctor's office will
want to know the details of this error in order to help correct your
situation. Please direct your inquiries to the office manager of your
doctor's office, as the Horizon office will not be able to help you
with lab bills.
